my personal opinion is this:

if someone with a big platform tells me they are ‘not that good at social media’ they are either lucky, or lying.

i have been using social media since before i was even technically supposed to be on the internet in… 2000? 2001? if you’re not already famous, there’s people who get lucky, and then they have to learn a lot very quickly, or, there’s people who spend a long time learning, and it eventually pays off.

i never really cared to be good at it and i still don’t, nor do i claim to be. i just know some more stuff than i did late 2023, and, i know now i would have been better off if i’d have cared to know sooner.

if you don’t know who your target or core audience is, you should probably figure it out.

let’s say before october, you primarily used your account to promote your candle company, and your core was mostly customers, maybe other candle-makers.

a lot of those people probably stopped seeing your content not long after you started posting about palestine. some probably unfollowed, but chances are, a good many are still following you and never seeing your stuff because you’ve been shadowscrewed, okay?

and removing followers is one option, but so is making content that will appeal to those people again, because you still need money to live, and, we can’t grow this movement without bringing new people in. how you chose to do that is up to you, but it definitely helps to know who you are talking to.
